The Crate of Budweiser Circa 1985

BUDWEISER 1985

In January Imelda's heater broke. It was dead, defunct, an ex-boiler.

'I can't understand it,' he said 'It's relatively new - look at it.'
I looked at it; it had the 1980's square digital 'futuristic' font in kind of square letters 'WORCESTER'.
It was clean and clutter free - probably because he had been fiddling with it.

Anyway the repair man was called out from Worcester, and even though the boiler name was read out to them over the phone, the man took one look and in under five minutes after entering the house he declared it 'well and truly knackered'. He then charged £60 for the call out fee.

The repairman from Worcester said the boiler was so old that there were no longer parts made for it and even if there were he wouldn't be able to fit them because it was now non-compliant with current legislation.

Anyway, I'll not bore you with the details but a new one was ordered and finally the team turned up last week to fit it.  It was a bit chaotic as the team wanted to bleed every radiator in the house which meant getting access to them. Only one space could be cleared at a time. The chaps were very patient and - well it took five days in all.

As various piles had to be dismantled there were a lot of interesting discoveries.  My favourite was the above full crate of Budweiser with an expiry date of 'use before September 1985'.  I kid you not the crate still had its plastic wrapper and six 4-packs all full.  It was apparently under the cupboard in the kitchen.  Clearly I missed it in 2013 when I was 'messing about' - his words.

Today, March 11th 2017 I am watching the England v Scotland Rugby at Twickenham and the commentator just said 'The last time Scotland won at Twickenham was 1983 and nobody playing rugby on the field today was alive in 1983.

This means this Budweiser is probably also older than the whole of the Scotland and England Rugby teams.

What to do with it now???   I wonder if there is a Budweiser museum.

💃💃💃👀💀
